Kin Vet Community

## Job Description

Clinic and Stock Management Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN)

Mercer & Hughes Veterinary Surgeons | Saffron Walden

Salary: £28,500 basic + approximately £2,000 additional weekend earnings

Hours: 38 hours per week | Four-day week (4 x 9.5-hour shifts)

We are looking for a Clinic Stock Management Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our team at Mercer & Hughes Veterinary Surgeons in Saffron Walden.

With over 40 years of heritage and a trusted reputation across Essex, we combine high-quality veterinary care with strong community relationships and a supportive team environment. You'll be joining a well-established practice where colleagues are encouraged to develop, collaborate and deliver outstanding care to pets and their owners.

As part of Kin Vet Community, a small collective of like-minded community veterinary practices, we benefit from the support, shared expertise and collaborative approach that comes from working alongside teams who share our commitment to exceptional veterinary care. Whilst every practice retains its own culture, leadership and way of working, being part of Kin Vet creates greater opportunities to learn from one another, invest in our people and facilities, and continue evolving the services we provide to pets and their owners.

About the Role

We're excited to introduce this newly created position, offering an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse the opportunity to combine clinical nursing with operational responsibility in a varied and rewarding role.

As our Clinical Stock Management RVN, you'll take part of our nurse clinics, helping to develop and grow nurse-led services while becoming the central point for managing pharmacy, laboratory and consumable stock across the hospital. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys client interaction, likes to take the initiative and wants to make a real difference to how the practice operates.

You'll have the autonomy to develop new ideas, improve existing processes and work closely with the wider clinical team to ensure the highest standards of patient care and client service.

Your Responsibilities

Your role will include:

- Leading and developing nurse-led clinics

- Introducing new nurse services and initiatives

- Delivering exceptional client care and preventative healthcare advice

- Supporting veterinary surgeons during consultations

- Managing pharmacy, laboratory and consumable stock

- Coordinating daily stock ordering across multiple suppliers

- Maintaining accurate inventory levels and ensuring efficient stock control

- Providing clinical nursing support when required during holidays or sickness

About You

We're looking for an experienced RVN who enjoys taking ownership and building relationships with clients.

You'll ideally have:

- Confidence running nurse consultations independently

- Excellent communication and client care skills

- Strong organisational and time management abilities

- A proactive approach with excellent attention to detail

- Commercial awareness and an interest in improving services

- Confidence working independently whilst supporting the wider team

This opportunity is best suited to an experienced nurse and is not intended for a newly qualified RVN.

Why Join Mercer & Hughes?

This role offers something a little different. Rather than spending every day on the wards, you'll enjoy a varied position where you can combine your clinical knowledge with, organisation and service development.

You'll benefit from:

- A four-day working week for an excellent work-life balance

- A genuinely varied role combining clinical nursing and operational responsibility

- The opportunity to shape and grow nurse-led clinics

- A supportive and collaborative team culture

- The chance to make a lasting impact within a well-established veterinary hospital

- Free onsite parking

Salary & Benefits

- £28,500 basic salary

- Approximately £2,000 additional annual earnings through the weekend rota

- 38-hour working week

- Four-day week (4 x 9.5-hour shifts)

- Paid weekend rota

- Bank holiday rota

- CPD encouraged and supported

- Opportunity to develop a unique nursing role
