Job Description

We are looking for a highly skilled and dependable Water Heater Technician to join our growing team. This position requires extensive hands-on experience with all types of water heaters, including tank and tankless systems, along with strong plumbing knowledge and a solid understanding of plumbing and mechanical code requirements.

This is NOT an entry-level position. We are looking for someone who truly understands water heater systems, installation procedures, diagnostics, venting, gas requirements, and code compliance.

Required Technical Knowledge & Experience:

- Extensive experience diagnosing, repairing, servicing, and installing: Traditional tank water heatersTankless water heatersGas and electric systems

- Experience with major brands including: NavienA. O. SmithRheemRinnaiBradford WhiteNoritz

- Strong understanding of: Condensing and non-condensing tankless systemsRecirculation systemsExpansion tanksDescaling and maintenance proceduresVenting systems and venting materialsGas sizing and gas pressure requirementsCombustion air requirementsWater pressure regulation and thermal expansionTankless troubleshooting and error code diagnosticsProper sizing and installation procedures

Code Knowledge & Installation Requirements: Candidate MUST understand and follow plumbing and mechanical code requirements, including:

- T&P valve installation requirements

- Earthquake strapping

- Drain pan requirements

- Proper venting clearances

- Sediment traps

- Shut-off valve requirements

- Proper drain and relief line termination

- Combustion air requirements

- Permit and inspection compliance

- Manufacturer installation specifications

- Safe gas and water connection procedures

Additional Requirements:

- Strong general plumbing knowledge

- Clean driving record REQUIRED

- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with customers and team members

- Strong work ethic and dependable attendance

- Ability to work independently and efficiently

- Professional appearance and attitude

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Diagnose and repair water heater issues accurately

- Install and replace tank and tankless systems properly and safely

- Ensure all work meets current code requirements

- Troubleshoot plumbing-related issues as needed

- Educate customers on maintenance and repair options

- Maintain clean and organized work areas

- Deliver excellent customer service on every job
