Exploration Geologist
Alt Carbon
Job Description
Most geological exploration today remains surprisingly fragmented - mapping teams, drilling contractors, assay labs, remote sensing vendors, and modelling software all operating in silos. Critical geological intuition often gets lost between field notebooks, spreadsheets, and static reports.
We believe the future of Earth Sciences will be built differently: through integrated exploration intelligence systems that combine field geology, geochemistry, geophysics, mineralogy, remote sensing, and computation into one continuously learning engine.
This role is an opportunity to help build that future from the ground up.
Salary: 10-15LOther Perks: Medical Insurance, field allowances, research exposure, etc.Location: Bangalore (with flexibility to travel extensively across remote field locations in India).
Responsibilities
Lead geological field mapping and exploration campaigns across weathering profiles, mineral systems, and subsurface terrains.Conduct lithological, structural, alteration, and geomorphological mapping in diverse geological environments.Design and execute sampling programs for rocks, soils, sediments, saprolite, and drill cores.Interpret geological evolution, weathering systems, mineralization pathways, and structural controls.Work closely with geophysics, geochemistry, MRV, and compute teams to build integrated subsurface models.Support exploration targeting using field observations, hyperspectral data, satellite imagery, geochemistry, and geophysical datasets.Develop field SOPs, logging standards, sampling QA/QC workflows, and geological databases.Contribute to scientific publications, technical reports, whitepapers, and exploration theses.Participate in drilling campaigns, core logging, and interpretation workflows where required
Requirements
MSc / PhD in Geology, Economic Geology, Earth Sciences, or related disciplines.Strong hands-on field geology experience with independent mapping and sampling campaigns.Experience working across complex terrains and rugged field environments.Strong understanding of mineral systems, weathering processes, structural geology, and stratigraphy.Publications in peer-reviewed journals, exploration reports, or conference proceedings preferred.Familiarity with geological modelling and GIS workflows.Experience with tools such as: ArcGIS / QGIS, Leapfrog, Micromine, Oasis Montaj, Python preferred.Ability to synthesize geological, geochemical, and geophysical datasets into coherent interpretations.Strong scientific writing, analytical thinking, and observational skills.
Nice to Haves
Experience in critical mineral exploration or tropical weathering systems.Familiarity with hyperspectral imaging, remote sensing, or spectral mineralogy.Prior experience integrating drilling, geochemistry, and geophysical datasets.Exposure to ML/AI workflows for geological datasets.Experience working in monsoonal or highly weathered terrains.
What We Offer
A high-ownership role in one of South Asia's most advanced Earth Sciences labs.Cross-disciplinary exposure: work with geophysicists, geochemists, climate scientists, AI engineers, and systems thinkers.A chance to publish, prototype, and ship science that goes from field lab computation.Access to cutting-edge Earth Sciences instrumentation and datasets. The satisfaction of doing real, measurable good for the planet.
