### CORE Institute Overview

The CORE Institute's fellowship-trained physicians provide specialized care in the areas of surgical, non-surgical, and rehabilitative hip, knee, shoulder, elbow, and ankle procedures, joint replacement, sports medicine, arthroscopy, fracture management, orthopedic traumatology, hand and wrist procedures, complex articular cartilage restoration, musculoskeletal oncology, foot and ankle reconstruction, physical medicine and rehabilitation, comprehensive spine care, pain management, clinical neurophysiology, epilepsy, headache and facial pain, neuromuscular medicine, spine and peripheral nerve disease, clinical neuroimmunology, multiple sclerosis, and general neurology care.

### General Description of Duties

The APP will provide medical care delegated by the Physician. The APP will maintain a clinic schedule of 2 days/week with half‑day administrative time. The APP will handle outpatient foot and ankle phone calls within the division. The position offers a stipend bonus and a monthly productivity‑based bonus.

### Essential Functions

- Assess patient health status, including wellness, compliance, and diagnostic/therapeutic decisions.

- Provide acute and chronic patient care: histories, physicals, monitoring therapies, administering injections and medications, suturing wounds.

- Triage patient calls and evaluate problems.

- Respond to emergencies, including CPR.

- Document patient information and care in records and maintain statistics.

- Educate patients and families; ensure continuity of care.

- Assist physicians in surgeries, operating room support.

- Participate in hospital rounds and respond to after‑hours and weekend patient calls.

- Consult with other staff as needed.

- Maintain patient confidentiality.

### Education and Credentials

- MS preferred; graduate of AMA‑accredited Physician Assistant program required.

- CPR and ACLS certification required.

- Current state PA license, certified by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.

- Additionally, for Nurse Practitioner candidates: current Arizona license for RN and APRN, national certification per Arizona APRN Board; NP must be trained as first assist in the OR per AORN standards.

### Experience

- Experience in orthopaedics preferred but not required; willing to train the right new graduate.

### Requirements

- Current state PA license, certified by NCCPA.

### Key Competencies

- Knowledge of acute and chronic protocols, medication administration, and treatment plan execution.

- Assessment, measurement, and recording of physiologic and growth indices.

- Health promotion principles and patient learning evaluation.

- Skill in gathering and analyzing physiological, socioeconomic, and emotional patient data; evaluating problems via phone or in person; revising care plans.

- Ability to make responsible decisions within scope; develop health education programs; collaborate with healthcare team.
