About the Role

The Company is seeking a Head of Data Engineering to take on a pivotal role in the development of its U.S. specialty platform. This founding leadership position is responsible for owning the enterprise data strategy and the end-to-end design, build, and operation of the entire data ecosystem. The successful candidate will be accountable for all data-related aspects, from underwriting decisions to regulatory filings, and will set the data agenda with a focus on building with leverage across group data teams.

Key responsibilities include defining the data architecture, ensuring data quality and governance, and enabling analytics and AI capabilities. The role also involves establishing and maintaining strategic cloud data partnerships and managing contracted vendor teams. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years' experience in data engineering, data architecture, or enterprise data platform leadership, with a proven track record of managing production platforms at scale.

Deep hands-on expertise in Snowflake, dbt, and event streaming technologies like Kafka is essential. Experience in enterprise-level data builds and a working knowledge of U.S. excess and surplus specialty products and underwriting dynamics are also required. The role demands a leader with executive presence, capable of engaging with senior stakeholders and board-level audiences, and a Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline, with a preference for additional qualifications in P&C data structures, multi-framework reporting, and cloud data certifications.
