# Mechanical Designer

Responsibilities

- Perform mechanical design and inspection tasks for movable bridges and tunnels.

- Prepare contract plans, special provisions, engineer's estimates, calculations, inspection reports, and technical memoranda.

- Research design options and document findings and recommendations for project managers.

- Develop mechanical designs using MicroStation or AutoCAD.

- Develop machine design calculations for power transmission components.

- Perform a combination of office and field work in support of project assignments.

- Assist with the development and documentation of mechanical design solutions for movable bridge and tunnel systems.

- Support field inspections and document existing conditions and inspection findings.

- Coordinate design information and technical findings with project managers and other members of the project team.

- Assist with technical documentation, calculations, drawings, and project deliverables throughout the design process.

- Apply sound engineering judgment when evaluating design alternatives and developing practical solutions.

- Support project teams with research, technical analysis, and preparation of project documentation.

Requirements:

- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.

- Willingness to travel for short-term assignments.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Experience with MicroStation and AutoCAD computer-aided design and drafting software preferred.

- Experience with Mathcad computational software preferred.

- Hands-on mechanical experience preferred.
