Key Responsibilities - Patient Care: Provide comprehensive care for sports-related musculoskeletal injuries, including the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of conditions affecting bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, and muscles. - Surgical Intervention: Perform surgical procedures, including arthroscopy, ligament repair, joint replacement, and other orthopedic procedures, when indicated. - Non-Surgical Management: Develop personalized treatment plans for patients, including physical therapy, injections, bracing, and other non-surgical interventions. - Collaboration: Work closely with physical therapists, athletic trainers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and optimize outcomes for patients. - Sports Medicine Expertise: Provide expert consultation and care for high school, college, and professional athletes, as well as active individuals seeking to return to their sports or physical activities. - Patient Education: Educate patients on injury prevention, post-operative care, and lifestyle modifications to improve their overall health and performance. - Research & Continuing Education: Stay updated on the latest trends in sports medicine and orthopedic treatments, engage in ongoing education, and contribute to clinical research. - Community Involvement: Participate in community outreach and sports injury prevention programs, and support Wellstar s mission to improve the health and wellness of the Augusta community. Qualifications - Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution. - Board Certification or eligibility in Orthopedic Surgery, with a fellowship in Sports Medicine. - Active medical license in the state of Georgia, or eligibility to obtain licensure. - Experience: Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in orthopedic sports medicine (fellowship training can count towards experience). - Strong background in surgical and non-surgical management of sports-related injuries. - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients and work effectively in a multidisciplinary team. - Strong commitment to patient care, continuing education, and the advancement of orthopedic medicine.
