Contract Details
- Contract Type: Permanent Full Time
- Contract Hours: 35 hours per week
- Salary Scale: €97,978 to €115,166 pro rata per annum (subject to Long Service Increments and future adjustments).
- Annual Leave Entitlement: 34 days pro rata per annum, proportionately less for less than 12 months service.
Overview of the Post
The role is based in CHO7 CDNT 7 Tymon within the Children’s Disability Network Teams (CDNT) under the national Progressing Disabilities Services (PDS) model. The successful candidate will provide a range of psychology services—to young people (0–18 years) and their families—within an interdisciplinary framework, including assessment, intervention, clinical supervision and ongoing service development. Service is delivered through a family‑centred approach across settings: clinic, preschools, schools, children’s homes and community settings.
Responsibilities
- Provide assessment and intervention services for children and young people with complex needs arising from a disability.
- Deliver clinical supervision and ongoing service development.
- Work in an interdisciplinary team within various settings (clinic, schools, homes, community).
Essential Criteria
- University degree or diploma (QQ1 level 8) in Psychology with 1st or 2nd class honours.
- Irish post‑graduate professional psychology qualification accredited by the Psychological Society of Ireland in Clinical, Counselling or Educational Psychology, or an equivalent qualification validated by the Department of Health.
- Demonstrate competence in the care group/s applied for.
- At least five years of satisfactory post‑graduate experience in professional psychology; no more than three years spent in gaining the postgraduate qualification, and at least two years full‑time post‑qualification experience.
- For clinical or counselling psychologists: at least 60 days supervised clinical placement or post‑qualification supervised work experience in Disability (Child and Adult), Child Psychology or Adult Psychology.
- For educational psychologists: at least 60 days supervised clinical placement or post‑qualification supervised work experience in Child Disability or Child Psychology.
- Member of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) or British Psychological Society (BPS).
- Current eligibility to work in the State.
- Valid driving licence and access to own transport for geographic coverage.
Desirable Criteria
- Previous senior post experience.
- Experience working in an interdisciplinary team.
- Skills and competencies with assessment and intervention for mental health needs in children with disabilities.
- Experience working with children aged birth to 18 years and families, including physical disability, autism and learning disability.
- Experience and qualification in completing diagnostic work‑ups (e.g., ASD, Developmental Delay, Intellectual Disability).
