## Job Description

- Develop, implement, and maintain company safety programs, policies, procedures, and written plans in accordance with applicable OSHA, DOT, MSHA, EPA, state, client, and company requirements.

- Monitor regulatory requirements and industry best practices to ensure safety programs remain current, effective, and aligned with company operations.

- Lead, coordinate, and document safety training for employees, including new hire orientation, field safety, hazard communication, PPE, incident reporting, emergency response, confined space, lockout/tagout, respiratory protection, defensive driving, and other applicable topics.

- Conduct or coordinate jobsite safety inspections, audits, observations, and field visits to identify hazards, verify compliance, and support corrective actions.

- Investigate workplace incidents, injuries, near misses, vehicle incidents, and property damage events; document findings; determine contributing factors; and assist with corrective and preventive actions.

- Manage and support OSHA recordkeeping, injury and illness documentation, client reporting requirements, workers' compensation coordination, and internal incident tracking.

- Serve as a safety resource for project managers, supervisors, field personnel, and leadership by providing practical guidance on hazard controls, safe work planning, site-specific safety requirements, and client expectations.

- Assist with preparation, review, and implementation of site-specific health and safety plans, job hazard analyses, tailgate safety meetings, pre-task plans, and client-required safety documentation.

- Maintain safety records, training files, inspection documentation, equipment records, medical surveillance records, fit testing records, and other required safety documentation.

- Coordinate and support safety committee meetings, employee communications, safety campaigns, toolbox talks, and seasonal hazard awareness initiatives.

- Evaluate safety performance trends, prepare reports, track corrective actions, and recommend improvements to reduce risk and improve company safety performance.

- Support procurement, selection, inspection, and proper use of personal protective equipment, safety equipment, monitoring equipment, and emergency response supplies.

- Assist with client prequalification platforms, safety questionnaires, audits, and requests for safety statistics or documentation.

- Willingness to travel to project sites as required and occasionally work outside normal business hours to support field operations, emergency response, training, or incident investigations.

- Respond to written communications, requests, and safety-related concerns from management, employees, clients, and regulatory agencies in a timely and professional manner.

- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as necessary to achieve safety, project, and company goals.

- Bachelor's degree in occupational safety and health, environmental health and safety, industrial hygiene, environmental science, engineering, risk management, or a related field is preferred.

- A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible safety, environmental health and safety, construction safety, industrial safety, or field operations safety experience is preferred.

- Experience supporting safety programs for environmental consulting, field services, construction, industrial, oil and gas, utility, or similar operations is strongly preferred.

- Experience using and maintaining safety compliance/prequalification platforms, including ISNetworld, Veriforce, and Avetta, is required.

- Knowledge of OSHA standards and recordkeeping requirements is required; working knowledge of DOT, MSHA, EPA, workers' compensation, and client safety requirements is preferred.

- Professional certifications such as ASP, CSP, CHST, OHST, GSP, OSHA-authorized trainer, First Aid/CPR instructor, or other relevant safety credentials are preferred.

- OSHA-authorized Outreach Trainer or SafeLand USA Authorized Instructor strongly preferred.

- Strong working knowledge of occupational safety principles, hazard recognition, risk assessment, incident prevention, and hierarchy of controls.

- Ability to interpret and apply OSHA standards, company policies, client requirements, and site-specific safety expectations to practical field and office conditions.

- Experience developing safety programs, procedures, training materials, inspections, audits, corrective action plans, and safety communications.

- Proficiency with Microsoft 365, safety management systems, spreadsheets, incident tracking tools, and electronic recordkeeping platforms.

- Strong written communication skills, including the ability to prepare professional reports, policies, safety alerts, training materials, and incident documentation.

- Excellent verbal communication, presentation, coaching, and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, manage confidential information, and prioritize multiple responsibilities.

- Ability to work extended hours or respond outside normal business hours when needed for incidents, urgent safety matters, field support, or training needs.

- Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, compliance obligations, and employee support needs simultaneously.

- Collaborative skills with a strong work ethic and the ability to build trust with field personnel, supervisors, project managers, and leadership.

- Be dependable, organized, and responsive, with regular attendance required.

- Must be able to communicate detailed information through written and oral communication.

- Must be able to observe field conditions, recognize hazards, and identify small details during inspections and incident reviews.

- Must be able to adapt to changing regulatory, client, project, and operational requirements.

- Strong commitment to continuing education and professional development in occupational safety and health.

- Demonstrated ability to lead by example, promote safe behaviors, and contribute to a positive safety culture.

- Take initiative to identify safety risks, recommend improvements, and guide employees toward safe and compliant work practices.

- Coach, mentor, and support employees and supervisors by sharing safety knowledge and reinforcing expectations in a constructive manner.

- Maintain a professional and positive attitude when interacting with coworkers, clients, government regulators, vendors, contractors, subcontractors, and property owners.

- Be self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision while maintaining accountability for assigned safety responsibilities.

- Understand company operations, project scopes, and field conditions well enough to provide practical and effective safety guidance.

- Demonstrate accountability by owning responsibilities, following through on corrective actions, and delivering quality results.

- Possess sound judgment, problem-solving skills, and the ability to make timely recommendations in safety-sensitive situations.

- Communicate effectively in written and verbal mediums as appropriate for the needs of employees, supervisors, management, clients, and regulators.

- Be able to work individually or collaboratively with teams across departments and project groups.

- Be able to manage flexible work schedules and respond to changing priorities.

- Be able to perform all tasks and assignments in a timely, efficient, and organized manner.
