### Job Summary and Qualifications

The Senior Operations Counsel will provide day-to-day legal support to assigned facilities and/or service lines, and will coordinate with other corporate departments that require input from, and integration with, the operations counsel section of the legal department. This role will support a hospital Division and/or one or more service lines or corporate departments, working closely with leadership and providing legal representation. Responsibilities include providing guidance on physician and referral source relationships and related legal issues, including, but not limited to, the Stark Law and the Anti-kickback Statute, contract review.

This role will provide legal assistance including but not limited to medical staff governance, EMTALA, and other regulatory issues.

### Key Responsibilities:

- This role provides direct legal support to assigned divisions/facilities/service lines, including but not limited to:

- Identifying legal risks and developing proactive compliance recommendations

- Assisting in legal evaluation and deployment of corporate strategic initiatives

- Developing communications related to significant legal issuesAnalyzing contract compliance, reviewing, and approving referral source contracts

### Education & Experience:

- Juris Doctorate (JD) from ABA accredited law school & active membership in at least one state bar is required

- 10+ years of experience in /as legal counsel to healthcare systems/providers, with strong preference for experience directly supporting hospitals is preferred

- Admission to the Tennessee bar or admission to another state bar with ability to obtain Tennessee in-house counsel registration promptly is required
