## Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Database Engineer / SQL Developer to join a growing technology team in Dublin. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a large-scale Microsoft SQL Server environment, supporting critical databases and playing a key role in data migration and the transition towards a future-state platform.

### About the Role

### Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases

- Work with large-scale, multi-terabyte databases

- Support and deliver data migration activities from legacy to future-state platforms

- Develop and maintain ETL processes and SSIS packages

- Write, optimise and troubleshoot complex T‑SQL queries

- Carry out query and database performance tuning

- Work with CTEs, window functions, indexing and execution plans

- Analyse and resolve database and data‑related issues

- Support data transformation, cleansing and reconciliation activities

- Contribute to database design and architecture decisions

- Ensure solutions meet relevant regulatory, security and governance standards

- Work closely with Developers, Business Analysts and Product Owners

- Document technical solutions, processes and database changes

- Help identify and overcome technical challenges during migration and transformation projects

### Required Skills

- Strong commercial experience with Microsoft SQL Server

- Experience working with large / multi-terabyte databases

- Hands‑on experience with SQL Server 2016+, ideally SQL Server 2019

- Strong experience with SSIS and ETL

- Strong understanding of query optimisation and performance tuning

- Experience with CTEs, window functions, indexing and execution plans

- Good understanding of database design and development

- Experience working within regulated or enterprise environments

- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills

- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

- Comfortable working as part of a global, multidisciplinary team

### Preferred Skills

- Experience working with databases in the 10TB+ range

- Experience with SQL Server upgrades or modernisation

- Azure or cloud database experience

- Experience with data warehousing

- Experience with database performance monitoring and optimisation

- Financial services or other highly regulated industry experience
