Position Type: Transportation Date Posted: 2/11/2026 Location: Kindred Public School Date Available: 04/20/2026 Closing Date: 03/02/2026 District: Kindred Public School District Position: Director of Transportation and Grounds (12-months) Salary Range - $60,000 - $80,000 (based on qualifications and experience) Benefits - Single Health and Dental Insurance, Vacation Time, and PERS (ND Public Employee Retirement System) Estimated Start Date - April 20, 2026 Please contact Superintendent Mike Kolness at [email protected] or 701-428-3177 Ext 5108 for more information KINDRED PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 2 DIRECTOR OF TRANSPORTATION & GROUNDS JOB DESCRIPTION Position: Director of Transportation and Grounds Reports to: Superintendent of Schools Supervises: Buildings and grounds assistant, bus drivers, substitute bus drivers Qualifications: As established by local school board including licensed to drive school bus and spray school district grounds. Goal: To provide safe and efficient transportation and maintain the school grounds. THE MAJOR DUTIES OF THE DIRECTOR OF TRANSPORTATION AND GROUNDS SHALL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: 1.
Conform with all state and federal regulations regarding transportation and maintenance. 2. Maintain safety standards in conformance with state and insurance regulations and develop a program of preventative safety. 3. Recruit, train, and supervise all transportation personnel, and assist central office administration in hiring, transfer, promotion and release of these employees. 4.
Advise the superintendent on road hazards for decisions related to school closing during inclement weather. 5. Cooperate with school principals and others responsible for planning school district transportation. 6. Review specifications and make recommendations for purchasing new vehicles. 7.
Participate in bus bidding process 8. Prepare district bus routes with assistance from the central office. 9. Make purchases and forward all invoices to the business manager. 10.
Maintain all district-owned equipment and use preventative maintenance techniques. 11. Submit all required reports. 12. Take an active role in solving discipline problems occurring on school buses. 13.
Work with school principals for transportation related complaints and special requests. 14. Evaluate each bus driver annually. 15. Maintain all school grounds 16.
Serve as a bus driver when needed. 17. Adhere to school policies and procedures. 18. Maintain the confidentiality of students and staff.
