How will you make an impact in this role?
Global Risk and Compliance (GRC) is an independent risk management function with
an objective of ensuring that American Express operates in a safe, sound and fully
compliant manner within all applicable regulatory expectations. GRC creates and
maintains the overall risk management framework, performs independent risk
management assessment, and monitor risks.
Within GRC, the Operational Risk Management (ORM) team facilitates and monitors the implementation of effective operational risk management programs throughout the organization, and oversees risk ownership throughout business units, products, and processes. The objective of the ORM Issues, Events & Remediation team is to ensure timely
identification, response, and resolution of risk events and issues to minimize
impact, as well as to prevent recurrence through effective remediation and lesson
learning.
Operational Risk Management is looking for an Analyst for Events & Remediation team focused on ensuring effective operational risk management is embedded in the day-to-day operations of our organization. It will involve extensive collaboration with multiple partners across numerous business units, functional areas, and geographies.
The Analyst within Operational Risk Management (ORM) Issues & Events team will be responsible for:
1.Perform Quality Assurance (QA) reviews of operational risk events (OREs) to validate completeness, accuracy, timeliness and policy adherence.
2.Support the design, execution and refinement of QA framework to ensure transparency and accountability in the event management process.
3.Provide Independent assurance, insights and recommendations that strengthen operational risk management practices and drive culture of control and accountability.
4.Prepare structured reports and dashboards highlighting QA observations, themes and recommendations.
5.Identify trends in events associated with a workstream to detect potential systemic risks or control weaknesses within BU processes.
6.Partner with Operational Risk Officers, Compliance team and business stakeholders to embed best practices and drive process improvement.
7.Assist in Audit and Regulatory activities as well as providing support in the execution of audit findings.
