You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including customer service, to troubleshoot and resolve critical issues swiftly, delivering reliable and high-performance solutions. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence the technical direction of our core products, drive architectural initiatives, and mentor junior engineers, all while maintaining a strong commitment to testing, code quality, and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of backend software development experience in B2B SaaS environments
  • Expert-level PHP development experience (5+ years), with proficiency in frameworks like Laravel and Symfony
  • 3+ years of production Java experience, particularly with building microservices using Spring Boot
  • Deep expertise in testing methodologies, including TDD, with tools such as PHPUnit, JUnit, and Mockito
  • Strong MySQL skills, including query optimization and database design
  • At least 2 years of experience designing event-driven architectures utilizing Kafka, SQS, or similar messaging systems
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with customer service teams and explain technical concepts to stakeholders
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, remote environment with minimal supervision

Responsibilities

  • Write, review, and maintain high-quality, production-ready code in PHP and Java, including occasional frontend work with React or jQuery
  • Partner with customer service teams to triage, assess, and resolve critical customer issues within 1-2 business days
  • Design and implement comprehensive test suites to ensure high test coverage and reliability of new features and bug fixes
  • Lead architectural initiatives, including migrating legacy PHP systems to Java microservices, ensuring scalability and performance
  • Implement reliability patterns such as retry mechanisms, circuit breakers, and outbox patterns for distributed systems
  • Mentor team members on best practices in testing, architecture, and debugging techniques
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, performant, and well-tested solutions that meet customer needs

Benefits

  • Remote-first work environment with flexible working hours
  • Paid time off in accordance with local labor laws
  • Two corporate apartment accommodations in San Diego and São Paulo for team member use at no cost
  • Full paid parental leave to support work-life balance
  • Home office stipend based on country of residence
  • Access to Cloudbeds University for professional development and courses
  • Support for mental health and well-being through professional therapy and coaching services
  • Opportunities for career growth and skill enhancement through ongoing training and knowledge transfer
