About the Role

We have an opportunity for a Design Manager on a major data centre project in Dublin. This role involves leading the design engineering team, coordinating design submissions, and providing succinct solutions to meet the client’s needs.

About You

An ambitious and outgoing design manager with a proven track record in the construction industry, especially on major projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with the client’s design team for the project build and site-wide design and services.
  • Coordinate Winthrop’s design team and external consultants to ensure design development stays on schedule for construction.
  • Plan and lead design and engineering workshops with in-house and external discipline engineers to resolve issues and advance progress.
  • Manage the Technical Submittal (TS) process, ensuring specifications are met and submissions are timely for review.
  • Oversee the design query process, raising issues in weekly workshops and managing RFIs and change management.
  • Manage IFC releases and updates, ensuring coordination and up-to-date designs.
  • Lead weekly design/engineering meetings to review progress and address urgent issues.
  • Maintain a design risk register to inform senior management and the client of potential risks.
  • Manage the design and submittal process for the FFE package in admin buildings, ensuring timely delivery.
  • Report progress and risks in weekly client meetings.
  • Coordinate construction drawings and models to ensure timely approval for construction.
  • Manage as-built drawings and models, ensuring timely submissions and updates.
  • Ensure all documentation, O&M manuals, and uploads are completed as required.
  • Coordinate LEED requirements, liaising with the client’s team and external LEED consultants, and generate progress reports.
  • Ensure project quality plans and QA procedures are implemented, liaising on temporary works, traffic management, and risk assessments.
  • Organize weekly meetings with OFCI vendors to ensure timely delivery, review technical submissions, and address discrepancies.
Minimum Requirements
  • 7+ years’ experience in delivering large-scale projects, including office fitouts, retail, hotels, schools, data centres, etc.
  • Data centre experience is advantageous.
  • Degree in a relevant construction discipline preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
