Job Title : Design Engineer – Bus Body Building
Reporting To Plant Head / Operation Manager/Production Manager.
Location: Panamkuzhy (Kombanad - Ernakulam)
Neeleshwaram (Kalady - Ernakulam)
1. Core Responsibilities
- Bus Body Design & Layout
- Design exterior and interior layouts of buses (school, city, staff, luxury, sleeper, etc.).
- Develop 2D/3D models using CAD software (like AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, or Siemens NX).GD &T, Free hands Sketching, FEA.
- Ensure the design fits with different chassis from OEMs (Tata, Ashok Leyland, Eicher, Bharat Benz, etc.).
- Structural Design
- Design and validate body frame structure (mild steel, aluminium, or stainless steel).
- Analyse load-bearing members, roof strength, roll-over protection (R66 compliance).
- Material Selection
- Choose materials for body panels, seats, flooring, insulation, and interiors based on weight, cost, and safety.
- Regulatory Compliance
- Design as per AIS and CMVR standards (e.g., AIS-052, AIS-031).
- Incorporate safety norms like emergency exits, fire retardant materials, seat anchorage, etc.
- Documentation
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings, BOM (Bill of Materials), and welding/joint details.
- Maintain drawing revisions and release to production.
- Prototype & Testing Support
- Assist in prototype development and testing (fitment, vibration, noise, leakage, etc.).
- Collaborate with production and quality teams for design improvements.

Educational Background
- Degree/Diploma: Mechanical, Automobile, or Industrial Design Engineering
- Preferred Experience: 2–5 years (for junior to mid-level roles)
