Job Summary
The Electrical Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining electrical systems and equipment to ensure reliable operation and compliance with safety standards. This role combines engineering design work with hands-on troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of electrical and electronic systems used in (manufacturing / building infrastructure / industrial facilities / power systems).
Key Responsibilities
Design and Development
- Design, develop, and review electrical systems, schematics, and layouts for new projects or system upgrades.
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation.
- Select appropriate electrical equipment, materials, and components based on project requirements.
- Conduct feasibility studies, calculations, and simulations to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Collaborate with mechanical, civil, and automation engineers to integrate systems effectively.
- Ensure designs meet industry codes, regulations, and safety standards (e.g., IEC, NEC, IEEE).
Maintenance and Operations
- Supervise and perform installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems and machinery.
- Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults in control panels, power systems, motors, and instrumentation.
- Monitor and optimize equipment performance to minimize downtime and energy consumption.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, test reports, and system documentation.
- Coordinate with production and maintenance teams to schedule repairs and upgrades.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification is an asset.
- 3–7 years of experience in electrical design, maintenance, or related engineering roles.
- Strong knowledge of electrical codes and standards (NEC, IEC, NFPA, OSHA).
- Hands-on experience with PLCs, drives, transformers, and power distribution systems.
