High-Level Overview
In this role, you'll oversee and manage the electrical and controls design of capital projects, ensuring adherence to company standards and industry codes. You'll act as the primary liaison between internal teams—including Operations, Shared Services, and Project Execution—and external engineering firms to ensure project requirements are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the design of electrical systems for
large horsepower (10,000–30,000 HP)
turbine and motor-driven compressor stations. - Ensure designs meet NEC requirements and support industrial systems in hazardous classified areas.
- Provide technical oversight of power, controls, and instrumentation design deliverables.
- Review and approve drawings, technical reports, and vendor materials; evaluate and recommend equipment selections.
- Provide engineering support during construction and commissioning phases.
- Incorporate lessons learned and ensure compliance with all regulatory and safety requirements.
- Mentor junior engineers and support departmental initiatives.
Technical Scope
- Power:
120/208V, 480V, 4160V systems including MCCs, switchgear, grounding, cathodic protection, and more. - Controls:
PLC systems (Allen-Bradley or equivalent), Wonderware HMI, ESD systems, PID control loops. - Instrumentation:
Smart/analog transmitters, pressure and temperature instruments, flame/gas detection.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
- 7+ years of engineering and project management experience
Preferred:
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng./P.E.) designation
- Strong technical leadership skills and ability to manage multiple projects
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Working Conditions
- Primarily office-based with some field travel (overnight trips may be required)
- Fast-paced, deadline-driven environment requiring coordination across multiple stakeholders
- PPE required for field visits
