About the job
DART is looking for a Financial Analyst who will perform cost accounting work. The role will support with the standard cost accuracy, variable & fixed overhead cost, monthly closing activities, and reporting of the actual results including variance analysis. The position will also assist with the FP&A activities relating to the gross margin, support engineering development programs as well as supporting the Business unit manager and any strategic project.
Responsibilities
- Perform cost analysis for inventories and oversee inventory cycle counts.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Perform month-end closing for inventory and ensure accuracy of inventory valuation.
- Own all balance sheet and P&L GLs related to inventory and cost of sales.
- Identify the source of variances and work with site managers to reduce them.
- Perform weekly analyses of purchase price variances and update system to capture new standard price.
- Analysis of all costs affecting gross margin including freight, labor, overhead, raw material, customer returns
- Ensure proper posting of invoices touching gross margin GLs.
- Support tracking of engineering and production costs for special projects
- Standard Costing; Yearly calculation of work center rates and overhead rates
- Participate in Forecasting and Budget process for items related to gross margin; support site managers in developing site operating budgets.
- Improve the costing process and assure compliance; ensure the integrity of the entire costing process, handle costing for internal and external audits and implement any recommendations; actively work on identifying gaps in the costing process and developing suggestions for process improvements.
- Assist the site managers with presenting and interpreting the monthly results.
- Support Business Unit managers to understand business impact on margin.
- Aid the site managers with budgeting and monitoring of capital expenditures and various productivity projects
- Participate in the establishment of Business Cases, contract evaluation and projects.
Qualifications & Skills
- 1-3 years experience in a manufacturing environment
- Cost experience (an asset)
- Excellent analytical, financial reporting, and problem-solving skills
- Result-oriented, sense of initiative and business
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Comfortable working with ERP systems
- Bilingual (oral and written)
- Open to some travel to the different sites
- CPA designation (an asset)
