Hays Specialist Recruitment has partnered with a leading software company based in Waterloo, ON. We are currently hiring a Financial Analyst to join their team on a 18 Month Contract. This candidate will be required to work on-site 3 days in-office (Tues-Thurs) at their Waterloo location.
As a Financial Analyst within the Corporate Accounting team, you will play a key role in recording and analyzing employee-related expenses within the general ledger. This position also offers a unique opportunity to develop deep insights into corporate accounting, finance operations, and ERP systems, while driving process improvements through the development of automation solutions.
Your new role
- Record and analyze employee-related expenses in the general ledger.
- Utilize ERP systems such as SAP and NetSuite to support financial processes.
- Help identify and implement automation solutions for process improvement opportunities across the finance function.
- Develop and use tools such as advanced Excel, Python, Java, RPA, Alteryx, and Power BI to enhance reporting capabilities and drive automation in current manual processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and acquired company finance teams to integrate processes and systems.
- Support accounting and finance initiatives related to mergers and acquisitions.
- Perform independent analysis and reporting as part of broader team initiatives.
- Gain exposure to a wide array of finance, accounting, and system operations across the organization.
- Other tasks as assigned.
What you'll need to succeed
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 2+ years of experience in corporate accounting or financial analysis
- Proficient with ERP systems (SAP, NetSuite preferred)
- Advanced Excel skills; VBA/macro experience is required
- Experience with data analysis and automation tools (e.g., Python, Power BI, RPA)
- Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and organizational abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivated, proactive, and eager to learn
- Capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Works well both independently and collaboratively
