What you'll do as a Financial Controller at Akuna:
We are seeking a proactive, self-starting Financial Controller to join our Finance department. The role requires working independently in a dynamic environment to achieve individual and team goals. You will collaborate closely with Finance, Compliance, Trade Operations, and Procurement teams. As Akuna expands into new markets and opens new offices, this role will offer increasing exposure to international accounting and trading industry practices. Your responsibilities include:
- Monitoring, maintaining, and improving accounting control procedures
- Supervising the work of the accounting team
- Managing the month-end close process for multiple entities
- Maintaining accurate accounting records, including General Ledger, Income Statement, and Balance Sheet reporting
- Preparing and filing monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for banks, regulators, and third parties
- Preparing and reviewing transfer pricing and tax computations
- Participating in budgeting processes
- Coordinating financial audits and tax return filings with external accounting firms
Qualities that make great candidates:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of professional accounting experience in a managerial role
- Experience leading finance teams in trading companies or public accounting within financial services
- Excellent communication and analytical skills
- Proficiency in MS Office, especially intermediate to advanced Excel skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy
