Overview:
We're looking for a Frontend Developer + UI Designer to help shape the future of our web platform. You'll lead the development of a React Progressive Web App (PWA) from the ground up — turning real-time backend data into elegant, responsive, and intuitive user experiences. This role blends strong frontend engineering skills with thoughtful UI/UX design, perfect for someone who loves to see both the pixels and the patterns come together.
You'll work closely with backend engineers, product stakeholders, and other developers to define the architecture, build modern interfaces, and ensure our web app is reliable, performant, and beautiful — across devices and connection types.
Responsibilities:
- Architect, develop, and maintain a React + TypeScript Progressive Web App (PWA) with offline capability and responsive design.
- Collaborate with backend and API engineers to define data contracts and streamline communication between frontend and backend systems.
- Translate complex backend data (telemetry, analytics, or live streams) into clean, user-friendly visualizations and controls.
- Own the end-to-end design process — from wireframes and mockups to polished UI — ensuring a consistent, modern user experience.
- Implement best practices for state management, component composition, and modular design.
- Ensure compatibility and performance across browsers, screen sizes, and devices.
- Contribute to and evolve the company's UI/UX design system, maintaining design consistency across features and releases.
- Optimize build performance, code structure, and PWA reliability (service workers, caching, deployment readiness).
Requirements:
- Expert-level proficiency in React and TypeScript, with a deep understanding of component-driven architecture.
- Strong experience building and deploying Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) using modern tooling (Vite, Webpack, etc.).
- Proven ability to design and implement responsive, accessible, and visually cohesive interfaces.
- Strong background in UI/UX design, ideally with proficiency in Figma, Sketch, or similar tools.
- Experience consuming and visualizing data from REST and WebSocket APIs.
- Familiarity with frontend state management patterns (React Context, Redux, Zustand, or similar).
- Solid grasp of authentication flows, routing, and secure data handling in frontend applications.
- Comfortable with agile workflows, Git-based collaboration, and clear documentation practices.
- Experience designing interfaces for UAS, robotics, or aviation systems — especially telemetry dashboards, mission control views, or operator interfaces — is highly desired.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Experience integrating with NATS or other pub/sub messaging systems.
- Familiarity with live video streaming (WebRTC, HLS, or RTSP via proxy).
- Understanding of real-time telemetry, IoT-style dashboards, or mission-critical UIs.
- Awareness of performance profiling and Core Web Vitals optimization.

Pay: $110, $125,000.00 per year
