Our client is seeking an experienced Electronics Design Engineer with a solid foundation in embedded electronic systems—someone who enjoys tackling intellectually demanding projects and is interested in growing into a senior technical leadership role within a small, collaborative engineering team. In this position, you'll be responsible for architecting and directing the design of advanced instrumentation electronics used in scientific and aerospace applications. Beyond designing and supporting complex hardware, you'll also work closely with engineering management to help oversee the group and gradually take on higher-level technical supervision responsibilities.
The ideal candidate combines strong hands-on electronic design abilities with proven leadership and organizational skills, including managing engineers, initiating new product ideas, coordinating project execution, managing budgets and schedules, and collaborating across departments, suppliers, and customers.
RESPONSIBILITIES
:
- Design both analog and digital circuits
- Define system requirements and specifications
- Develop and document hardware architectures
- Contribute to and supervise projects involving embedded firmware and FPGA development
- Mentor junior engineers and technicians
- Write comprehensive design and product documentation
- Draft and refine standard operating procedures
- Participate in design reviews and provide technical recommendations
- Suggest improvements to enhance system performance and features, including input for business development initiatives
- Develop and implement production test strategies and programs
MUST HAVE QUALIFICATIONS
:
- B.S. or higher in electrical engineering (or equivalent) with a strong grasp of fundamental engineering principles
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant industry experience
- Proven expertise in analog circuit design and analysis, including power supply and instrumentation systems
- Hands-on experience with digital design and system analysis
- Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (PADS or comparable software)
- Must be a U.S. citizen
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
:
- Understanding of signal processing and control theory (linear, classical, and non-linear)
- FPGA experience, ideally with VHDL and OSVVM
- Experience with embedded systems programming in C/C++
- Familiarity with embedded Linux or real-time operating systems (FreeRTOS preferred)
- Experience in analog/mixed-signal and data acquisition designs
- Python programming familiarity
- Background in team leadership or mentoring of junior staff
