Job Overview: We are seeking a talented and motivated Interior Designer with at least 2-4 years of experience in rollouts in the retail and hospitality sectors. We are looking for someone who is eager to push themselves to the next level in their career. The successful candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and adaptable, a great communicator, keen to design manage rollouts, have a strong understanding of construction detailing/ documentation and a drive to further develop their expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design management of rollouts, ensuring consistency and quality across multiple sites to strict brand guidelines. This will involve creating space plans that meet the clients operational needs as well as providing a strong customer experience.
- Produce high-quality tender and construction documentation, including architectural drawings as well as detailed construction/ joinery drawings, ensuring compliance with BCA and Australian Standards.
- Ensure all specifications and drawings adhere to relevant compliance standards (BCA, Australian Standards) and that all materials and specifications align with budget requirements.
- Coordinate external consultants/ stakeholders (e.g., landlords, RDM’s, town planners, access consultants, services) to ensure project requirements are met.
- Manage design timelines and deliverables for individual tasks within the broader project scope, ensuring deadlines are met.
- Communicate and co-ordinate clients, landlords, Retail Design managers (RDM's), consultants and shop-fitters/ builders.
- Support senior team members in preparing design presentations, mood boards, and project documentation.
- Work closely with clients and project stakeholders to refine and execute design concepts, ensuring clear communication and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
- Stay proactive in anticipating project challenges, and provide creative solutions to address client and stakeholder needs.
- Support project management efforts, including tracking project budgets, schedules, and other critical project details.
- Collaborate with the team to ensure designs are implemented effectively, on time, and to the highest standards.
Key Requirements:
- 2 -4 years of experience in interior design, with a focus on retail and hospitality projects.
- Experience with retail and hospitality roll-outs.
- Tertiary qualifications in Interior Design or Interior Interior Architecture.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Suite (minimum requirements).
- Proficiency in Revit is a plus but not essential.
- Excellent documentation skills- construction details, joinery etc. Can develop full documentation packages with minimal supervision.
- Understanding of codes- BCA/ Australian Standards.
- Experience with FFE (Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment) selection/ specification and ensuring consistency, functionality, budget expectations, client briefs are being met
- Strong attention to detail, with a demonstrated ability to produce accurate design documentation.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with clients, consultants, and project teams.
- Experience in liaising with landlords, RDM’s, clients.
- Experience in liaising with consultants (e.g., town planners, access, services) is advantageous.
- Ability to manage time effectively, balancing multiple tasks and project demands while adhering to deadlines.
- A proactive, solution-oriented mindset, with the ability to anticipate potential challenges and offer creative solutions.
- Strong interest or experience in sustainability and a willingness to further develop knowledge in sustainable design practices.
- Some understanding of construction budgets. Ability to support the management of budgets and schedules for design projects.
- Flexibility and adaptability in working across different project types and phases.

KPI’s
- Autonomously design manage multiple rollout projects from end to end (client briefing to tender/ construction drawings/ defect phase), whilst meeting clients needs and timelines.
- Autonomously produce a full tender/ construction set of drawings.
- Design to BCA/ Australian standards.
- Run multiple projects at once.
