About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical
Inventory Accountant
to oversee, track, and report on inventory transactions across our organization. The successful candidate will ensure accuracy of inventory records, reconcile variances, and provide insights to support financial reporting and operational efficiency. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work cross-functionally with operations, procurement, and finance teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor, record, and reconcile inventory transactions, including purchases, transfers, adjustments, and disposals.
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end inventory reconciliations between the general ledger and sub-ledger systems.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in inventory counts, valuation, and reporting.
- Assist in physical inventory counts and cycle counts; prepare variance analysis and corrective action plans.
- Support costing activities, including standard cost updates, BOM (Bill of Materials) accuracy, and overhead allocation.
- Collaborate with operations and supply chain teams to ensure proper recording and reporting of inventory movements.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements by providing accurate inventory valuations and reporting.
- Maintain compliance with internal controls, company policies, and audit requirements.
- Prepare and present inventory-related reports to management, highlighting trends, risks, and opportunities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
- 2–5 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on inventory, cost accounting, or manufacturing environments preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and inventory accounting principles.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
