Who are we?
The Faculty of Science, Engineering and Built Environment is dedicated to being at the forefront of teaching, learning, creativity, social development, and groundbreaking research and discovery. We work closely with industry partners and government bodies to translate discoveries into real-world impact. This role will specifically be working within the School of Information Technology.
About the role:
The Lecturer, Information Technology will lead unit teaching teams in UG and/or PG programs to deliver unit learning outcomes and continuously improve the student learning experience and outcomes. Preference will be given to those with a background in Cloud, Quantum, Networking and/or Cyber Security.
This position is suited to a person with an emerging record and passion for learning and teaching, a keen interest in contributing to community engagement for teaching and employability.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead unit teaching teams and work collaboratively with other unit teaching teams in the course to develop effective curricula and learning resources (including through unit leadership roles).
- Assist in applying industry, clinical and/or research practice into student learning experiences, success, engagement, and resources.
- Adopt innovation in curriculum design at the unit level and deliver research-informed, learner-centric teaching practices across different delivery modes.
- Design collaborative learning opportunities at the unit level. Support diverse learners by designing accessible and inclusive materials and practices.
- Develop effective assessment tasks and rubrics at the unit level.
- Provide academic support to students within units and guide them to appropriate support services where needed.
Selection criteria:
- Conferred PhD in information technology, computer science, or related discipline, and/or relevant qualifications and experience.
- Strong record of scholarly teaching and curriculum design in UG and/or PG programs.
- Passion for teaching and learning.
- Ability to implement effective teaching practices to enhance student success and engagement.
- Interest in transnational education and delivering programs in Australia and offshore campuses, if required.
- Emerging record of scholarly teaching in postgraduate or undergraduate programs.
