Maintenance – Boiler Engineer
Location: Helena, MT
Job Summary:
The Boiler Engineer performs essential maintenance work to ensure the hospital’s physical plant and equipment remain in safe, reliable operating condition. This role completes preventative and corrective maintenance with minimal supervision, conducts boiler and chiller water chemistry testing, and adjusts chemical systems to protect boiler, steam, and cooling tower integrity. The position ensures steam meets sterilization standards, performs boiler safety checks, and supports HVAC, electrical, and plumbing troubleshooting and repairs. The Boiler Engineer also participates in performance improvement activities, complies with all regulatory standards, and serves on the Fire Response Team.

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on hospital equipment
- Conduct boiler, chiller, and cooling tower water chemistry testing and chemical adjustments
- Ensure boiler safety systems function properly and support safe operation
- Assist with HVAC troubleshooting and repairs
- Perform basic electrical and plumbing repairs, including steam trap maintenance
- Maintain compliance with DNV-GL, state, federal, and local regulations
- Support facility operations as part of a collaborative maintenance team
- Respond to fire and emergency codes as required
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of mechanical/electrical maintenance experience in a public facility
- Education: High school diploma, HiSET, or GED preferred
- Licensure: Second-class boiler license preferred; must obtain within 3 years of hire (required for continued employment)
