Mess Group creates places where hospitality meets culture, chaos, and connection. A raw piece of Rotterdam brought to life through food, drinks, music, and stories.
From beers in the sun at Biergarten Rotterdam & Eindhoven, to intimate, secret dinners at OX, and experimental club nights at Time is the New Space, we build spaces where culture breathes and the unexpected feels right at home.
Urban by nature. Wild by design. Inclusive at heart.
This is hospitality with grit, driven by passion, people, and creative energy.
It’s not just nightlife or food. It’s about real moments, community and emotion.
The RoleAs Marketing & Communication Manager at Mess Group (overseeing OX Rotterdam and Biergarten Eindhoven), your mission is to strategically shape and amplify the voice, presence, and identity of each concept across all channels.
You’ll lead the strategic communication of three distinct hospitality brands, each with its own personality, community, and cultural rhythm. Your role is to ensure each venue not only reaches its audience, but resonates with it — authentically, creatively, and impactfully.
Start date: July 2025.
Your Responsibilities- Develop and implement marketing strategies tailored to each concept’s character and business objectives — from the refined mystery of OX to the vibrant openness of Biergarten.
- Craft and oversee brand storytelling across digital platforms, printed materials, signage, merchandise, events, and internal touchpoints.
- Own the creative strategy, working closely with the Graphic Designer — providing direction, feedback, and ensuring strong brand alignment across all visual output.
- Supervise the Community Manager, coordinating daily execution of social media content and PR, and ensuring consistency in tone, visuals, and narrative.
- Curate and manage content production, including booking photographers and videographers, and ensuring the right moments are captured to reflect each venue’s vibe.
- Collaborate closely with event curators and programmers, keeping up to date with the agenda and translating it into strong communication plans.
- Set and manage internal deadlines to keep projects on time, across all teams involved in campaigns and content delivery.
- Oversee the editorial calendar, aligning communications with key events, launches, and milestones.
- Track and analyze performance and engagement to refine strategy and support continuous growth.
- Create and manage newsletters, writing clear, on-brand messages that keep our communities engaged, informed, and connected.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar marketing/communication role. Hospitality or cultural experience is a must.
- English is mandatory. Dutch is a plus.
- Strong autonomy. You can work independently and lead processes with minimal guidance.
- A solid team player with great communication skills and the ability to work across creative, operational, and event teams.
- A sharp sense of design and brand aesthetics — you know how to brief visuals and judge alignment at a glance.
- Skilled in content strategy, social media, CRM, and digital campaign management.
- Bonus: a strong network in Rotterdam or deep connection to the city’s creative and cultural scene.
- And above all: someone who’s genuinely enthusiastic about our venues and what they represent. You get what makes each place special — and that passion fuels your storytelling.
