Position Overview

The Marketing Communications Specialist is responsible for end‑to‑end development and delivery of high‑impact marketing materials, compelling content, and seamless event experiences that amplify our brand, support sales objectives and position Ocean Software as a world-leading provider of defence software solutions.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Visual Design and Content Creation

  • Conceptualise and produce on‑brand, high‑quality graphics, infographics, brochures, presentations and other collateral using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator), MS Suite (Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint), or other online tools (Canva etc.).
  • Ensure every asset clearly communicates customer value, aligns with brand guidelines and resonates with our military and government audiences.
  • Maintain and regularly update the company’s brand & style guide, templates and other assets to guarantee consistency across all deliverables.

Content Strategy and Copywriting

  • Research, write and edit engaging copy for whitepapers, case studies, brochures, website pages, blog posts and LinkedIn articles.
  • Proactively immerse yourself in our products, customer use‑cases and industry trends to craft thought‑leadership pieces that demonstrate our domain expertise.
  • Collaborate with subject‑matter experts to translate technical features into clear benefits and customer‑focused messaging.

Trade Show & Events Management

  • Plan and manage all aspects of industry exhibitions and conferences, from applications to exhibit, booth design to logistics, and supplier liaison and coordination.
  • Collaborate with the Sales team to define objectives, themes and collateral requirements for each event to maximise lead generation and brand exposure.
  • Oversee production, inventory and distribution of promotional materials, ensuring cost‑effective supplier arrangements.

Digital and Website Management

  • Maintain and optimise the company’s website by updating content, creating or sourcing graphics and images, and ensuring user‑friendly navigation.
  • Develop and deploy corporate Word and PowerPoint templates that reflect our refreshed brand identity.
  • Monitor website performance through analytics and recommend improvements to enhance engagement and lead capture.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration and Project Management

  • Act as the central liaison between Marketing, Product, Sales and other internal teams, gathering inputs to inform marketing initiatives.
  • Own project timelines and deliverables, ensuring successful execution without needing extensive oversight.
  • Provide strategic advice to Sales and Customer Success teams on communications tactics and support ad hoc requests for presentations or pitch materials.

Administrative Support

  • Manage the corporate e‑signature platform, ensuring templates are up‑to‑date and accessible.
  • Troubleshoot basic technical issues related to marketing systems and liaise with IT when required.
  • Maintain accurate records of marketing assets, campaign results and budgets.
  • Support HR and the leadership team with internal communications and events when required.

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design or related field.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in a marketing or communications role, preferably within a B2G, technology, or defence‑related environment.
  • Proven proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator), MS Suite (Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint), and other online tools (Canva, LinkedIn etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience managing trade‑show logistics end‑to‑end.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to craft compelling, concise content for B2G and military audiences.
  • Proven ability to take initiative, work autonomously, and manage multiple concurrent projects with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the capability to build relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
  • Comfortable in a fast‑moving, evolving environment and able to pivot across responsibilities as priorities shift.
