Mechanical Engineer – Chemical Plant Operations

Job Summary
We are seeking a qualified Mechanical Engineer to handle plant operations, equipment maintenance, and utilities management in our chemical manufacturing facility. The candidate should have strong technical knowledge of process equipment, piping systems, and preventive maintenance for chemical plant machinery.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and ensure smooth day-to-day mechanical operations of the chemical plant.
- Carry out preventive and breakdown maintenance for pumps, reactors, agitators, heat exchangers, compressors, and pipelines.
- Monitor utility systems such as boilers, chillers, air compressors, and cooling towers.
- Support the production team in process optimization, equipment reliability, and downtime reduction.
- Prepare and maintain maintenance schedules, equipment logs, and spare-parts inventory.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) of breakdowns and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure safety compliance and adherence to plant SOPs and statutory regulations.
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and the engineering team for equipment installation and commissioning.
- Maintain documentation related to ISO, GMP, and plant audits.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- 2–6 years of experience in chemical, petrochemical, or process plant operations.
- Hands-on experience with pumps, valves, reactors, heat exchangers, and utility systems.
- Familiarity with piping layouts (P&ID) and preventive maintenance planning.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, MS Excel, and TPM or CMMS systems preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and team-management skills.
