Title: Product Design Engineer
Location: Chicago, IL (Ravenswood area)
Hire Type: Long term contract (Potential to go direct in 2026)
Salary: $40-60/hrly
Misc: This role is 100% on-site
Our client’s Product Development Center, located on the north side of Chicago (Ravenswood Area), specializes in prototype development and product engineering. They are seeking a hands-on Product Design Engineer to support ongoing product development and design improvement efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Modify and refine existing product designs based on prototype testing and engineering feedback.
- Create and update SolidWorks 3D models, drawings, and documentation in accordance with established revision and design control processes.
- Participate in design reviews, verification/validation activities, and cross-functional development discussions.
- Ensure compliance with Design Control procedures and relevant regulatory standards (ISO 13485 preferred).
- Collaborate closely with prototyping, testing, and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are feasible, reliable, and cost-effective.
- Support documentation updates, drawing revisions, and engineering change processes.
- Work with mechanical assemblies that include moving parts, mechanisms, springs, and collapsible components.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in product or mechanical design, preferably in medical devices or other highly regulated industries (e.g., aerospace, automotive, defense).
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and strong understanding of engineering drawings and revision control processes.
- Knowledge of Design Control principles and experience working within controlled product development environments.
- Experience with mechanical assemblies and functional mechanisms involving moving parts.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Product Design Engineering is preferred but not required.
