Consolidated Properties is a leading property development firm specialising in innovative residential, commercial, retail and mixed-use projects. We have a 45-year history of developing quality development solutions. We are currently seeking an organised, skilled Senior Accountant to join our team on a 12-month maternity leave contract with the possibility of an ongoing role.

Position Overview

The Senior Accountant will play a key role in the financial operations of the business, by preparing and posting general ledger entries to support and produce accurate and timely financial reports. Duties also include payroll, compliance management and supporting project accounting across our diverse property portfolio. The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting skills, experience in the property development or real estate sector, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. The finance team is small so you would enjoy a wide role covering all aspects of the accounting function. You will be able to work autonomously. CPG can offer flexible working arrangements for the right candidate although most of your time would be spent in the Brisbane CBD office.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and analyse monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements

Facilitate and oversee end-to-end accounting; including AP/AR, journal entries, reviews and reconciliations, posting journals and bank reconciliations

Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts including inter-entity reconciliations and loans

Monitor and report on project-level financial performance and cost tracking

Preparation and processing of weekly payroll (including all related matters – reconciliations, payroll tax, FBT, superannuation, Workcover, STP Compliance)

Tax compliance including monthly and quarterly BAS, FBT and Income Tax Return workpapers

Oversee and coordinate a small team

Coordinate and liaise with CPG’s external tax advisors and consultants

Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cashflowing

Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and company policies

Support leadership with ad hoc financial analysis and reporting.

Contribute to process improvements and system enhancements as needed

Any other duties as directed by the General Manager

Qualifications & Experience

CA/CPA Qualified

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

3+ years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in property development or real estate but not necessary.

Experience with project accounting and residential settlements

A knowledge of Sage accounting software would be advantageous but not essential (experience using MYOB, Xero or Quicken also welcome)

Excel skills and comfort working with large data sets

Excellent attention to detail, organisational, and time management skills

Proven skills in regard to time management, setting priorities and planning and organising workload

Ability to work independently and collaborate in a small team environment

Duration: 12-month maternity leave coverage (with possibility of on-going role)

Start Date: July 2025

Compensation: Competitive, based on experience
