Harmony is the largest gold producer by volume in South Africa and is a significant operator of gold tailings retreatment facilities. In Papua New Guinea, Harmony owns and operates the Hidden Valley mine and owns 50% of the Tier 1 Wafi-Golpu copper-gold project. Harmony is currently preparing to progress the Execution Phase of the Eva Copper Mine Project in Queensland, Australia. These assets are supported by the Harmony Australasia regional corporate office located in Milton, Brisbane.
The Senior Business Analyst – IT will be responsible for reviewing and improving existing business systems specific to Gold, Silver, and Copper Mining. Identifying opportunities to streamline business processes, leverage new technologies, and enhance system architecture to support the company's future technology state.
This role will be based in our Milton office in Brisbane.
Reporting to the Group Manager - Information Technology, the key responsibilities of this role include:
- Conduct comprehensive reviews of existing systems including Pronto ERP, Flowcentric Workflow, Optimum reporting, Power BI, Planview, SharePoint, and Ineight.
- Identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement in current systems and workflows.
- Gather and document business requirements from stakeholders to ensure system enhancements align with business objectives.
- Work closely with business stakeholders to gather and model business data and processes.
- Develop and implement solutions to streamline business processes and improve system efficiency.
- Manage and highlight risks and issues related to system improvements.
- Define and plan the introduction of new systems or changes to existing systems, identifying costs and requirements.
- Develop strategies for data integration and management to support business intelligence and reporting needs.
- Develop and maintain enterprise architecture frameworks to ensure alignment with business goals and technology strategies.
- Collaborate with IT architects to design scalable and robust system architectures.
- Ensure that all system improvements and implementations comply with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements.
- Work with internal control and external auditors to ensure compliance with SOX regulations.
- Leverage artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to enhance business processes and system functionalities.
- Ensure that all system improvements and implementations adhere to internal security principles.
- Collaborate with the security team to conduct risk assessments and implement necessary security measures.
- Collaborate with IT and other departments to ensure successful project delivery.
About You:
To succeed in this role, you should be self-motivated and able to work efficiently and collaboratively in a team environment holding the following qualifications and experience:
- At least five years of relevant experience in business analysis, preferably within the mining industry.
- Strong understanding of business systems such as Financial, Workflow, Mining, Reporting, Document Management, etc.
- Experience in evaluating business processes and developing both technical and business requirements.
- Knowledge of information management systems, data management concepts, enterprise architecture, and project management principles.
- Prior knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance requirements.
- Experience with artificial intelligence technologies and their application in business systems.
- Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate business or IT discipline.
