Mechanical Engineer – Data Center Infrastructure

Compensation:
$150,000 – $250,000 base salary (commensurate with experience)
The Position
We are seeking a seasoned and visionary
Mechanical Engineer
to lead the
mechanical design and operations strategy
for our data center infrastructure. This role is foundational to delivering
scalable, high-performance environments
optimized for
dense compute workloads and energy-efficient operations.
As the in-house technical mechanical authority, you will oversee
cooling technologies, HVAC systems, fluid systems, and thermal strategies
across hyperscale infrastructure programs. Reporting to the
Chief Engineer
, you will serve as a key technical leader, driving initiatives that shape the future of our AI and HPC-ready data centers.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Strategy & Innovation
- Define and execute the mechanical engineering vision for high-density compute facilities with a focus on efficiency, reliability, and innovation.
- Develop and implement advanced cooling strategies (e.g.,
liquid-to-chip, immersion, rear-door heat exchangers
) and airflow optimization. - Lead initiatives to evaluate and pilot emerging technologies, such as
phase-change cooling, AI-assisted thermal modeling, and advanced materials
.
Engineering Leadership
- Lead a cross-functional team of mechanical engineers across the full lifecycle: design, construction, commissioning, and operations.
- Collaborate with
electrical and controls teams
to ensure fully integrated infrastructure system architectures. - Develop and enforce standards for design, documentation, QA/QC, and compliance to ensure safety, consistency, and scalability.
Operational Excellence
- Oversee root cause analysis of mechanical failures and implement resilience strategies to minimize downtime and optimize availability.
- Manage vendor relationships, establish specifications, testing protocols, and maintenance standards.
- Deploy tools and dashboards for monitoring and analyzing system performance metrics, enabling predictive maintenance and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in
Mechanical Engineering
. - 12+ years of experience in
data center or mission-critical facilities
. - Expertise in
thermodynamics, CFD modeling, and next-generation cooling
. - Experience supporting
hyperscale or GPU-accelerated environments
. - Strong communicator with proven leadership experience.
