The RoleWe seek a dedicated Structural Engineer to join our hardworking and committed team supporting the Engineering department. Your role will involve developing practical solutions for plant improvements and specialized structural repairs to ensure the safe and efficient production of nickel and cobalt.
Responsibilities- Collaborate effectively with asset owners to identify, prevent, and troubleshoot plant and process issues, maximizing equipment availability.
- Prioritize daily tasks and shutdown activities.
- Use industry-standard engineering software and hand calculations to develop solutions for structural engineering tasks and investigations.
- Apply knowledge of structural frame analysis, finite element analysis (FEA), and foundation design to create supporting documentation for decisions and solutions.
- Conduct site inspections and liaise with asset owners and construction teams to develop practical solutions for field-based plant improvements and repairs.
- Perform calculations and structural analysis in compliance with Australian Standards, health and safety regulations, and local authorities.
- Coordinate with drafts-people to develop drawings for repairs and improvements, ensuring compliance with structural detailing requirements.
- Ensure all work outputs meet engineering standards and regulatory requirements.
- Scope repair tasks for structural remediation projects.
This role suits a structural engineer with leadership experience, familiar with Australian Standards and the design of structures supporting process equipment, piping, and tanks. You should have:
- A Civil/Structural Degree recognized by Engineers Australia
- An Australian Manual Drivers Licence
- An understanding of engineering and maintenance decision-making within a business context
- Effective communication skills across all levels, including senior management and external stakeholders
- Strong knowledge of structural elements, design, and details
- Proven track record in industrial facility structural engineering within the mining sector
- Experience in structural remediation in process plants
