About The Position
Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical/Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years required. License: Valid nursing license required at the time of submission. Certifications: BLS (AHA) required; ACLS preferred. Must-Have: - Med/Surg experience - Use of Rapid Response Teams - Blood Product Administration - Central line blood draw - Peripheral line care/management - Starting IVs - Heparin administration - Insulin administration - CVA management - Surgical drain management - Nasal cannula management - Oral suctioning - Oxygen administration - Portable oxygen tank management - Isolation precautions Description: Looking for a Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse to work in a community hospital setting. The patient population includes general medical and surgical cases, as well as total joint and spine surgery. Provider support includes interpretation services, lift teams, pharmacy, phlebotomy, physical therapy, radiology, rapid response teams, respiratory services, social services, transportation, and unit secretary. Provider coverage includes hospitalist services. Two years of experience is required for this position. First-time travelers are not considered. On-call, weekend availability, and floating between four other Medical/Surgical/Telemetry units is required. Telemetry buddy is responsible for strip readings. Documentation is required in Meditech. SBAR communication is expected. The dress code is blue scrubs without logos. Skills and experience preferred include: - Medical/Surgical experience - Telemetry monitoring - Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias - Remote telemetry monitoring - IV insulin protocols - Colostomy care - Feeding tube care and management - Pre/Post Hemodialysis management - Renal failure management - PICC line management - PCA management - Pre/Post neurosurgery management - Orthopedic trauma experience - Total joint replacements - CPAP/BiPAP usage - High flow nasal cannula usage - Interpretation of arterial blood gases - Non-invasive airway management - Wound care and wound vac management This position requires floating to other units, with daily patient ratios of 5. The unit supports interdisciplinary collaboration with various services including physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services. Candidates must complete labs within 48 hours of signing. RTO must be approved by the facility. Certifications are required at the time of submission, based on the job and unit description. Two supervisor references are preferred.
