UX Designer
LeverageTek is actively seeking a UX Designer for a 6-month contract with it’s Ottawa based customer.

Key Tasks
Planning & UX Strategy: Support the senior UX designer in continuously evolving and executing a comprehensive UX/UI strategy aligned with EDC’s business objectives and customer needs.
User Research: Collaborate closely with UX research to leverage research findings and insights in the design process. Support conducting user research, competitive analysis and usability testing to inform design decisions and identify opportunities for improvement.
Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with subject matter experts, business analysts, developers and product owner to define project scope, goals and deliverables.
UX Design: Deliver end-to-end design process, from wireframing and prototyping to visual design and implementation.
Wireframing: Create user-centered wireframes and high-resolution designs that prioritize simplicity, clarity and ease of use across responsive web experiences.
UI Design: Design visually engaging and intuitive user interfaces that enhance the overall user experience and reflect EDC’s brand identity.
Prototyping and Testing: Develop wireframes, prototypes, and mockups and conduct usability testing to refine designs based on user feedback.
Design System: Leverage design kits and component libraries to maintain design consistency and scalability across projects.
Inclusive Design: Ensure designs adhere to inclusive design principles and accessibility standards (WCAG 2.2) and comply with the Accessible Canada Act, advocating for inclusive design practices.
Collaboration: Communicate design concepts, rationale, and trade-offs effectively to stakeholders, gaining buy-in and alignment on design decisions.
Design Excellence: Collaborate closely with other design practitioners to build and refine the experience design practice, ensuring high standards of design quality and consistency across experiences.
Agility: Works collaboratively within a cross-functional team using agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban), taking ownership of work, estimates and reflecting updates in agile work management systems such as Azure DevOps (ADO).
Key Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in UX/UI design, preferably in a B2B or enterprise environment.
- Ability to design intuitive user interfaces and user experiences using FIGMA
- Strong capabilities in design tools such as Figma, Axure, Adobe XD, or similar (preferably FIGMA).
Other Qualifications
- Strong understanding of user-centered design principles, interaction design, and information architecture.
- Experience in mobile-first design with deep knowledge of responsive design, breakpoints and viewport sizes.
- Strong understanding of user-centered design principles, interaction design, and information architecture.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and working in cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of B2B financial products such as insurance would be considered a plus.
- Proficiency in web design including user flows, component design and styles.
- Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field.
Assets:
- Knowledge of analytics and UX metrics.
- Certification in accessibility (e.g., CPACC, WAS).
- Familiarity with web programming languages such as HTML.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and French.
