Upper Merion Township, located in King of Prussia, PA, is seeking an enthusiastic, organized Youth Services Librarian and Marketing Coordinator who will report directly to the Head of Youth Services and Library Director. This full-time position will involve about 75% of the time working directly in the youth services department, providing high-quality services to children, teens, families, and other patrons. 25% of the job will involve working on library marketing and social media communication, providing a cohesive library brand across print and digital platforms.
Youth Services Librarian duties include (but are not limited to):
Plan, develop, and implement programs for children and teens with an emphasis on grades 7-12.
Collaborate with community organizations and schools to deliver outreach programs and services.
Assist in summer reading and other seasonal reading challenges for children and teens to encourage literacy and engagement throughout the year.
Select and maintain a diverse and up-to-date collection of material for children.
Perform reference and reader's advisory services in person, by telephone, and by email, using materials in various formats.
Develop and manage age-appropriate displays and book lists to promote library materials.
Attend district meetings for teen and children’s services.
Perform other library duties as assigned.
Marketing Coordinator duties include (but are not limited to):
Create effective marketing material, including flyers, newsletters, and online content.
Promote the library’s collections, services, resources, and programs through print, digital, and social media platforms.
Maintain consistent branding of library content across platforms using a brand and style guide.
Physical Characteristics:
Possess good visual acuity (near and mid-vision continuously and field of vision occasionally).
Walk, sit, reach at waist level; handle, and reach materials comfortably; bend, lift, and carry items weighing up to 25 lbs.; climb and balance on a 14-inch footstool.
Minimum Education, Training, and Experience Required:
Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited library school
Familiarity with Canva design software for creating social media graphics, flyers, and other content
Additional Position Requirements:
Ability to perform detailed work accurately and efficiently
Communicate effectively
Excellent organizational skills
Work closely with staff and the public to provide a superior experience for our patrons.
Strong computer skills and familiarity with current social media practices
Must be able to work with children and adults in a personable and professional manner
Has current: PA Child Abuse; PA Criminal; and FBI clearances or ability to obtain clearances
Completion of pre-employment drug test screening
Schedule
35 hours/week. The schedule may include evening and weekend hours
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday – 9 am – 5 pm
Tuesday – 12 pm – 8 pm
1 Saturday/month
