Job Description

Role: Datacenter Technician

Location: Pune

L1 Technician (1–2 years’ experience):

Responsibilities:

• Move servers and switches to the required destination for installation.
• Inspect servers and switches to ensure they are not damaged in any way.
• Smoke test servers to ensure the server is functioning as intended.
• Install servers and switches and cable them according to the provided wire map.
• Ensure that all cables are bundled neatly and in accordance with standards.
• Double-check with network administrators to ensure everything is cabled correctly and all connections are up.
• Install additional components as needed (NIC, drives, memory).
• Assist in unboxing and preparing servers as required.
• Perform auditing of servers and consumables.

L2 Technician (2–5 years’ experience):

Responsibilities:

• Troubleshoot a variety of servers and isolate the problems encountered.
• Order replacement parts, install them in servers, and ship defective parts back to their respective vendors.
• Update server firmware to ensure the latest approved versions are installed.
• Configure IP addresses and default login credentials on servers.
• Reach out to and assist network administrators with server-related issues, including:
• Replacing broken or damaged cables
• Re-routing cables to different ports on servers or switches
• Replacing optics on server and switch ports
• Replacing parts and installing upgraded versions in servers
• Temporarily rack and stack a server or switch in a cabinet and cable it so network administrators can remotely log in and run configurations.
• Assist network administrators who request specific assistance with servers or switches.
• Perform other duties as assigned, based on operational needs.
