Security Consultant (WAF / Layer 7)

Overview

A leading global security organisation is seeking an experienced Application Security Consultant to support enterprise clients in designing, securing, and optimising modern web and application security environments.

This is a long-term contract opportunity for a hands-on specialist in Web Application Firewalls

(WAF), Layer 7 security, and application performance , working across large-scale, complex enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver post-sales consulting services around WAF and application security solutions
• Design and implement secure, scalable, and high-performance Layer 7 architectures
• Lead customer engagements from requirements gathering through to delivery and handover
• Produce high-quality technical documentation (HLDs, LLDs, test plans, migration plans, etc.)
• Implement configuration changes and support platform integrations in client environments
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues alongside support and engineering teams
• Provide best-practice guidance on application security and performance optimisation
• Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and tooling improvements

Ideal Profile

• 5+ years in customer-facing consulting, professional services, or technical delivery roles
• Strong understanding of networking and OSI Layer 7 protocols (TCP/IP, TLS, DNS, HTTP/S)
• Proven experience with WAF and application security technologies , such as:
• Web Application Firewalls
• DDoS protection
• API security / gateways
• Bot management
• SSL/TLS security
• Experience with vendors such as Cloudflare, F5, Imperva, Akamai, or similar
• Scripting or automation skills (Python, JavaScript, Bash)
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), CI/CD pipelines, and Git-based workflows
• Exposure to monitoring and observability tools
