Senior Backend / Platform Engineer

About the Role

Own the foundational platform layer of TourIQ, a B2B SaaS platform: cloud infrastructure, security, multi-tenancy, authentication, subscription billing, notifications, and core backend services. Ideal for someone who has built and shipped a B2B SaaS product at an early-stage company.

Key Responsibilities

Cloud Infrastructure & DevOps

• Co-own AWS infrastructure: ECS, RDS, S3, KMS; manage backups, disaster recovery, environment parity
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines: automated testing, security scanning, deployments
• Monitor infrastructure; own uptime and observability

Security & Multi-Tenancy

• Implement multi-tenant data isolation via PostgreSQL Row-Level Security
• Build authentication (JWT + MFA) and role-based access control
• Encryption at rest and in transit; audit trail logging
• Compliance implementation (GDPR/CCPA); drive SOC 2 readiness

Subscription & Billing

• Build Stripe integration: subscriptions, billing, invoicing, payment failure handling
• Feature gating based on subscription tier

Notifications & Communication

• Build transactional email system: alerts, summaries, escalation notifications
• In-app notification engine with real-time delivery and preferences

Core Backend Services

• Reporting engine (PDF, Excel/CSV exports), onboarding workflows, feature flags, scheduled jobs, admin tools

Must-Have

• 4–7 years as Backend / Platform Engineer with production B2B SaaS experience
• Python with FastAPI or similar async framework
• Hands-on AWS: ECS/EKS, RDS, S3, KMS, Secrets Manager
• Authentication systems (OAuth, JWT, MFA) and RBAC implementation
• PostgreSQL with Row-Level Security or equivalent multi-tenant patterns
• Production Stripe integration (subscriptions, billing, webhooks)
• CI/CD pipelines, Docker, application security

Good to Have

• SOC 2/GDPR/CCPA compliance; monitoring/observability tools; Terraform/CloudFormation; task queues; Kubernetes
