Job Description
PurposeThe Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close, managing AR, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and medical device industry expectations. This role partners closely with operations, supply chain, and leadership to support cost accounting, inventory controls, and financial reporting within a regulated manufacturing environment.This position is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional with experience in manufacturing and inventory-driven businesses, preferably within medical device, life sciences, or other regulated industries.Duties and responsibilitiesFinancial Accounting & CloseOwn month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processesPrepare and review journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliationsMaintain general ledger accuracy in accordance with U.S.
GAAPAssist with preparation of monthly financial statements and management reportsCost Accounting & InventoryManage inventory accounting, including:Standard cost maintenance and updatesVariance analysis (material, labor, overhead, PPV)WIP and finished goods valuationPartner with Operations and Supply Chain to ensure:Accurate BOM costingCycle count and physical inventory reconciliationProper capitalization of manufacturing costsCompliance & Internal ControlsSupport internal control environment and audit readinessEnsure compliance with company accounting policies and proceduresAssist with external audits, tax filings, and regulatory or financial reviewsMaintain appropriate documentation supporting financial transactionsBudgeting, Forecasting & AnalysisSupport annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processesAnalyze financial performance versus budget and prior periodsReconcile bank statements and balance sheet accountsRecord day-to-day financial transactions in the accounting systemManage Accounts Payable (AP): vendor invoices, expense verification, payment processing, and reconciliationsManage Accounts Receivable (AR): invoicing, collections, customer account reconciliation, and aging analysisPrepare and post journal entries and maintain the general ledgerMonitor expenses, revenues, and financial performanceProvide insights into gross margin, operating expenses, and key cost driversDevelop and maintain financial models, dashboards, and ad-hoc analysesCross-Functional CollaborationWork closely with Manufacturing, Operations, Supply Chain, and Quality teamsSupport ERP accuracy and continuous improvement initiativesProvide financial guidance to leadership as neededQualificationsEducationBachelors degree in Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fieldExperience2-5 years of progressive accounting experienceStrong knowledge of U.S. GAAPExperience in manufacturing or inventory-based environmentsAdvanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, financial analysis)Experience using ERP systems (NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, or similar)Preferred Experience: CPA or CFA designation (CPA strongly preferred; CFA considered with strong accounting background)Medical device, life sciences, or regulated manufacturing experienceCost accounting and standard costing expertisePublic accounting or audit backgroundExperience supporting company growth, scale-up, or operational transformationOther SkillsHigh attention to detail and commitment to data integrityStrong analytical and problem-solving capabilitiesAbility to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environmentClear written and verbal communication skillsProactive mindset with focus on continuous improvementCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive salary commensurate with experienceAnnual bonus opportunityMedical, dental, and vision insurance401(k) with employer matchPaid time off and company holidays recblid am5vgiel1on84o2l5prna65ivlvl2l
