An established and growing organisation is seeking an experienced Accounts Assistant / Credit Controller to join their busy finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated finance professional looking to take ownership of key transactional processes while developing their career within a supportive environment.
Your new role
Reporting to the Head of Accounts, you will play a key role in the day to day running of the finance function. This is a hands on position in a fast paced environment, offering variety and responsibility across both credit control and general accounts duties.
Your responsibilities will include:
Credit Control - managing the aged debt ledger, proactively chasing outstanding payments, resolving queries and maintaining strong customer relationshipsSales Ledger - raising invoices and credit notes, allocating receipts, and supporting month end closePurchase Ledger - processing supplier invoices, coding accurately and reconciling supplier statementsBank Reconciliations - completing daily reconciliations across multiple banks and currenciesGeneral Ledger - posting journals, processing expenses and supporting wider finance tasksProviding ad hoc support to the Head of Accounts as required
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will have:2-3 years' experience in an accounts assistant, credit control or similar transactional finance roleA proven ability to chase and recover debt professionally while maintaining positive customer relationshipsStrong working knowledge of accounting software, ideally Sage 50 AccountsConfident Excel skills, including formulas, lookups and pivot tablesExcellent attention to detail and a high level of numerical accuracyStrong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with customers, suppliers and colleaguesThe ability to prioritise workload, meet deadlines and remain calm under pressure
