Job DescriptionJob DescriptionFamily Life Services is seeking a full-time Adoption Caseworker / Social Worker to support expectant parents, adoptive families, and birth families throughout Virginia. This role combines case management, counseling, and social services with meaningful, relationship-based work in a faith-based nonprofit setting. We are seeking a friendly, personable, enthusiastic team member with a strong work ethic who can work well with different types of people from various backgrounds.The ideal candidate is compassionate, organized, and able to manage multiple cases while providing pregnancy counseling, adoption home studies, and post-placement support.
This position requires both strong interpersonal skills and the ability to handle time-sensitive situations, including occasional hospital-based support for infant placements.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide pregnancy options counseling to expectant parentsConduct adoption home studies and assessmentsComplete supervisory visits and ongoing case managementProvide post-adoption counseling and support servicesMaintain accurate and compliant case documentation and reportsBuild relationships with hospitals, social workers, and community partnersTravel throughout Virginia for client visits and appointmentsRequired Skills & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Education, or related fieldStrong ability to support clients in emotional or crisis situationsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to manage multiple cases, deadlines, and travel schedulesHigh level of confidentiality, professionalism, and attention to detailValid driver’s license and ability to travel independentlyPreferred QualificationsExperience in case management, social work, or family servicesExperience in adoption, foster care, pregnancy counseling, or child welfareExperience working with diverse populations and family systemsTechnical SkillsProficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, PowerPoint)Experience with case management systems or documentation platformsStrong organizational and administrative skillsSoft Skills Compassionate and non-judgmental approachStrong problem-solving and adaptabilityAbility to build trust quickly with clients and partnersTeam-oriented with a strong work ethicMission & Cultural FitAlignment with a faith-based, Christian organizationCommitment to the sanctity of human lifeActive participation in a local churchWillingness to adhere to organizational lifestyle expectationsSchedule & TravelMonday–Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (typical schedule, 35-40 hours/week)Occasional evenings and weekends for client needs and eventsRotating on-call schedule (approximately one weekend per month)Travel throughout Virginia (company vehicle or reimbursed mileage)Company DescriptionWe are a private, faith-based, licensed adoption agency in Virginia that specializes in providing personal and professional adoption services as we walk alongside you on your adoption journey.
