Application Engineer

Location: Onsite in San Jose, CA - 5 days per week

Travel: ~15% (domestic & international)

Salary: $150k - $160k + bonus and car allowance

Overview

A leading semiconductor organization is seeking an Application Engineer (AE) to provide technical leadership in the sales, implementation, and optimization of Advantest V93000 (V93k) Semiconductor Test Systems. This role focuses on developing and supporting test solutions for next‑generation, high‑performance computing devices. You will work closely with customers, sales teams, and engineering groups to ensure successful integration, test program development, and system performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support pre‑ and post‑sales activities for V93000 systems, including requirements analysis, technical demonstrations, competitive positioning, and benchmarking.
• Develop, debug, and optimize test programs using SmarTest 7/8, C++/Java, and related bench instruments.
• Ensure full system functionality and seamless integration into customer environments.
• Analyze complex customer test requirements and provide technical guidance on performance, design, optimization, and test program creation.
• Design, validate, and deliver test solutions aligned with customer performance expectations and business goals.
• Manage technical deliverables, resources, and project plans for customer initiatives.
• Provide customer training, on‑site support, and consultation throughout project lifecycle.
• Communicate emerging technologies, best practices, and solution strategies to global technical peers.
• Represent customer needs internally by collaborating with R&D, product management, and engineering teams.

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of IC test development or ATE applications engineering.
• Hands‑on experience with Advantest V93000 (V93k) and SmarTest 7/8, including developing test scripts from scratch.
• Proficiency in C++(7) or Java (8), with familiarity in bench instrumentation.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex test issues.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience with SmarTest 8 (SMT8).
• Knowledge of VLSI fundamentals and semiconductor manufacturing processes.
