About the Company
We are seeking an experienced and governance-focused Head – Accounts to lead the accounting function of a listed manufacturing organization. The role carries end-to-end responsibility for accounting operations, supervision of Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Fixed Asset Accounting, Inventory, GST, statutory and internal audits, regulatory compliance, and strengthening of financial controls. The incumbent will ensure timely and accurate financial closures.
About the Role
The role carries end-to-end responsibility for accounting operations, supervision of Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Fixed Asset Accounting, Inventory, GST, statutory and internal audits, regulatory compliance, and strengthening of financial controls.
Responsibilities
- Periodic Financial Closing & Reporting
- Ensure accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing of books.
- Ensure compliance with Ind AS, Companies Act, SEBI (LODR) requirements, and internal accounting policies.
- Review and validate standalone and consolidated financial statements for accuracy, completeness, and transparency.
- Support timely submission of financial results to senior management and the Board.
- Ledger Scrutiny & Accounting Entry Approval
- Conduct periodic scrutiny of general ledgers and sub-ledgers.
- Ensure all accounting corrections, provisions, accruals, and adjustments are completed prior to period closure.
- Act as the approving authority for accounting entries in SAP, including journal entries, provisions, accruals, and adjustments.
- Ensure proper documentation, audit trail, and compliance for all postings.
- Identify opportunities for cost optimization and process improvements.
- Accounting Supervision
- Oversee Accounts Payable (AP) operations including vendor accounting, invoice processing, payment runs, reconciliations, and internal controls.
- Supervise Accounts Receivable (AR) functions including customer billing, collections, ageing analysis, credit controls, and reconciliations.
- Supervise Fixed Asset (FA) functions including Capitalisation, retirement, periodic physical verification, Depreciation.
- Ensure effective GST compliance, including: Timely filing of GST returns, Reconciliation of GSTR-2B with books, Management of GST credits, reversals, audits.
- Audit, Compliance & Risk Management
- Coordinate with statutory auditors, internal auditors, tax auditors, and regulatory authorities.
- Ensure timely completion of audits and closure of audit observations.
- Ensure compliance with Companies Act, SEBI regulations, GST laws, and other applicable financial regulations.
- Identify financial and compliance risks and implement mitigation measures.
- Financial Governance & Controls
- Establish, implement, and monitor adherence to financial policies, SOPs, and financial controls.
- Strengthen internal controls across accounting, AP, AR, FA and taxation processes.
- Ensure robustness of documentation standards and audit trails in line with listed-entity governance requirements.
- Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop the accounts, AP, AR, FA and GST teams.
- Define roles, set performance expectations, and drive accountability.
- Build a culture of compliance, discipline, ownership, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Educational Qualifications
- Chartered Accountant (CA) – preferably cleared in the first attempt
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- Experience
- 12–15 years of relevant experience in accounting and financial control
- Mandatory experience in a listed company environment
- Mandatory experience in a manufacturing organization
- Hands-on exposure to SAP-driven finance environments
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of Ind AS, Companies Act, SEBI (LODR), GST, and financial reporting
- Proven experience in AP, AR, and taxation supervision
- Advanced proficiency in SAP, including approval workflows and financial controls
- Strong analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and communication abilities
- Ability to operate effectively under tight timelines and regulatory scrutiny typical of listed entities
