Position Summary:
The Assistant General Manager (AGM) at Miru is a key leadership role responsible for supporting the General Manager in all aspects of day-to-day restaurant operations. The AGM helps ensure a consistently exceptional guest experience, oversees team performance, drives revenue goals, and promotes a warm, high-performance culture grounded in the hospitality and values of Japan. This position is ideal for a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about service, food, wine, and people.
Tasks/Responsibilities:
Partner with the General Manager to oversee daily front-of-house operations and guest experience
- Lead, train, and motivate FOH teams to meet service standards, guest satisfaction goals, and performance expectations
- Act as Manager on Duty (MOD) regularly, maintaining floor presence, managing service flow, and resolving guest issues
- Support hiring, onboarding, training, and performance reviews in collaboration with HR and senior leadership
- Monitor labor costs, scheduling, and service efficiencies to support financial targets
- Drive sales and brand initiatives including promotions, private events, wine programming, and upselling strategies
- Ensure alignment with Miru’s hospitality standards, cultural values, and brand identity
- Collaborate closely with culinary and beverage teams to maintain service readiness and menu knowledge across staff
- Oversee safety, sanitation, and compliance with local health and liquor laws
- Analyze daily reports and KPIs, offering insight to improve operations, sales, and team accountability
- Support inventory, ordering, and cost control in alignment with GM and department heads
- Participate in planning and execution of marketing initiatives, events, and seasonal programming
3–5 years of restaurant management experience in a fast-paced, high-touch hospitality setting
Demonstrated leadership and team development skills with a passion for mentoring others
Strong understanding of restaurant financials including labor, COGS, and budgeting
Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and problem-solving abilities
Flexible schedule availability including nights, weekends, and holidays
Physical stamina to be on your feet for long hours and ability to lift up to 50 lbs
