Job Summary
The Assistant General Manager (AGM) supports the General Manager in overseeing all aspects
of restaurant operations, including guest experience, team leadership, financial performance, and
daily execution. This role is expected to lead service, support team development, and uphold
operational and hospitality standards at all times.
In addition to core AGM responsibilities, this role will help oversee the restaurant’s beverage and
bar program, including bar operations, beverage training, inventory, and service standards. The
ideal candidate brings a strong hospitality foundation alongside 2–3 years of beverage
experience or experience working in a hybrid operations and bar leadership role.
This position will play an important role in opening a new Manhattan restaurant concept
originating in London, helping bring the brand, culture, and guest experience to life in New York
City.
Responsibilities
Assistant General Manager Responsibilities
- Support daily restaurant operations and lead service during assigned shifts
- Act as Manager on Duty and maintain a strong floor presence
- Help hire, onboard, train, coach, and develop FOH team members
- Support scheduling, labor management, payroll review, and daily administrative tasks
- Lead pre-shift meetings and reinforce service and hospitality standards
- Ensure smooth communication and collaboration between FOH, BOH, and bar teams
- Monitor guest experience and resolve issues with professionalism and urgency
- Ensure cleanliness, organization, and DOH readiness throughout the restaurant
- Support new opening initiatives, training rollouts, and operational improvements
- Beverage & Bar Program Responsibilities
- Support oversight of the beverage and bar program in partnership with leadership
- Maintain strong knowledge of cocktails, spirits, wine, beer, and beverage service
- standards
- Assist with beverage ordering, inventory, vendor communication, and cost control
- Ensure beverage menus, recipes, and Toast POS items remain accurate and up to date
- Support beverage education and training for FOH and bar teams
- Ensure the bar remains organized, clean, stocked, and operating efficiently during
- service
- Assist bar staff as needed during service in a hands-on leadership capacity
- Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of restaurant management experience in a hospitality-driven environment
- 2–3 years of beverage experience or experience in a hybrid management role with clear
- bar leadership responsibilities
- Strong understanding of restaurant operations, service standards, and guest experience
- Experience leading teams in fast-paced hospitality environments
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
- Familiarity with Toast POS and Google Workspace
- Pre-opening experience preferred
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 pounds
