Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPosition OverviewWe are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Biologist to support environmental and ecological projects across Guam. This role involves assisting with field surveys, data collection and analysis, technical reporting, and regulatory compliance efforts.The ideal candidate is adaptable, safety-conscious, and passionate about environmental stewardship, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in dynamic field and office settings.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist in conducting biological field surveys, including vegetation mapping, wildlife monitoring, and habitat assessmentsCollect, manage, and interpret ecological and environmental data using GPS, GIS, and field toolsSupport preparation of technical reports, including biological assessments, environmental impact analyses, and permitting documentationAssist in monitoring ecological restoration and mitigation projectsEnsure all data collection and reporting comply with applicable federal, local, and territorial environmental regulationsSupport senior biologists and project managers with field coordination, logistics, and deliverablesMaintain accurate and organized field records and documentationParticipate in safety briefings and adhere to all safety protocols during field and office workInterface with regulatory agencies (e.g., Guam EPA, Department of Agriculture, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service) under supervisionCollaborate on projects involving military installations, community stakeholders, and environmental partnersQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Ecology, or a related field1–3 years of relevant experience in biological fieldwork, environmental consulting, or ecological restoration (internships may be considered)Familiarity with environmental regulations such as NEPA, the Endangered Species Act, and the Clean Water ActBasic proficiency in GIS, GPS data collection, and Microsoft Office SuiteStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work in physically demanding outdoor environments under varying weather conditionsValid driver’s license and ability to obtain base access/clearances as requiredPreferred Qualifications:Experience working in tropical or island ecosystemsFamiliarity with Guam’s environmental regulations, permitting processes, and native speciesExperience supporting federally funded or Department of Defense (DoD) projectsCore CompetenciesAbility to identify local flora and faunaUnderstanding of habitat restoration and conservation principlesStrong organizational and time management skillsDetail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple prioritiesAbility to work independently and as part of a teamWork EnvironmentFieldwork in tropical environments including forests, wetlands, savannas, and coastal areasExposure to high humidity, heat, insects, and rugged terrainOccasional marine or intertidal work (may require water entry or boat access)Office work includes data analysis, report writing, mapping, and coordination tasksPhysical DemandsThis role requires moderate to strenuous physical activity, including hiking, lifting and carrying equipment (20–50 lbs), and working extended hours in outdoor conditions.
