The Team
The Medical Authorization Centre (MAC) Pharmacy is responsible for making decisions concerning health needs for products that require authorization. In this role you will service various contracts and work as a member of an overall medical professional team. The primary goal of this unit is to provide positive health care outcomes through on-line case assessment using computer technology.
Work location can be remote from home, and the hours of operation for this team range from Monday to Friday 6:45am to 8:30pm Atlantic Time (AT). We work a 7.5 hour workday, a 37.5 hour work week: No overnight, No weekends.

Key Responsibilities
- Make decisions concerning clients’ health needs for products that require authorization
- Administer process for special authorization decisions through the interactive use of telecommunications and on-line POS technology
- Utilize medical background, knowledge and experience to render decisions
- Liaison with customers and other health care professionals to ensure treatment requests are appropriately administered
- Provide a positive and efficient customer service experience for providers and clients
- Support positive health care outcomes through on-line case assessment using computer technology
- Work various shifts between 6:45 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. (AT), Monday to Friday
Qualifications
Work Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years nursing experience, including knowledge of medical conditions in relationship to pharmaceutical treatment
- Excellent negotiation and decision-making skills
- Multi-tasker and thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Superior verbal communication skills
- Ability to work shift work on a rotating basis
Education: Active Nursing License
Computer Skills: Possess strong computer skills or aptitude
Language Skills: Must be fluently bilingual (English and French) both written and verbal to provide services to customers and communicate with internal stakeholders in both official languages.
Security Clearance Requirement: Reliability Status Clearance (Enhanced Level B) is required due to contract with the Federal Government. This includes Fingerprinting, Criminal Record Check, Credit Check, and residency in Canada for at least 5 years with Permanent Resident or Citizenship Status.
Pay and Hiring Details
Pay Grade: $72,500 – $74,500
